Ubuntu 7.10... RC... Open Week!

H Ανοικτή εβδομάδα Ubuntu (Ubuntu Open Week) είναι μια εβδομάδα αποτελούμενη από 42 σεμινάρια-συνεδρίες στο IRC, για μια σειρά από θέματα σχεδιασμένα ώστε να βοηθήσουν τον κόσμο να συμμετάσχει στην κοινότητα του Ubuntu.

Διοργανωτές θα είναι μερικά από τα ποιο γνωστά και ικανά μέλη της κοινότητας και οι συνεδρίες θα καλύπτουν μια σειρά από θέματα όπως πακετάρισμα, bug triage, μεταφράσεις, τοπικές ομάδες, Launchpad και άλλα. Επίσης θα υπάρχουν συνεδρίες για τα Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Studio και Gobuntu.

Θα υπάρχει και μια σπέσιαλ συνέδρια "Ρωτήστε τον Μάρκ", όπου θα έχετε στην διάθεση σας δύο ώρες για να ρωτήσετε τον Μάρκ (ιδρυτή του Ubuntu) ότι θέλετε.

Κυκλοφόρησε και η Release Candidate έκδοση του επερχόμενου Ubuntu 7.10. Η έκδοση αυτή προορίζετε για δοκιμές, παρόλα αυτά θεωρείτε αρκετά σταθερή για καθημερινή χρήση.

Την Πέμπτη αναμένεται η νέα έκδοση του Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon" ενώ αναμένεται να υπάρξει μεγάλη ζήτηση που θα κάνει τους servers να δυσλειτουργούν.

Όσοι θέλετε να δείτε από τους πρώτους το νέο Ubuntu μπορείτε να κάνετε το εξής: Αναβαθμίστε στην τελευταία έκδοση release candidate που είναι κοντά στην τελική και θεωρείται σταθερή. Στη συνέχεια, στις 18 Οκτωβρίου θα χρειαστεί να κάνετε μόνο ένα μικρό update στην τελική έκδοση. Για να το κάνετε αυτό σε μία κονσόλα γράψτε:

(Το –d χρειάζεται έως στις 18 Οκτωβρίου)

Το παραπάνω δουλεύει για αυτούς που έχουν ήδη Ubuntu 7.04. Όσοι έχουν παλαιότερη έκδοση θα χρειαστεί να χρησιμοποιήσουν τον update-manager. Όσοι δεν έχουν Ubuntu μπορούν να κατεβάσουν και να εγκαταστήσουν το release candidate από τις παρακάτω διευθύνσεις:
